I don't think a Republican presidency will change all this because they are a capitalist. You have to change the style of government..not one person.

I personally find the amount of rage and hatred expressed in this thread to be a little bit frightening.

I would say that it is disturbed people such as these criminals who are most in need of our pity and compassion.

Imagine the horror they are living in now after having committed such horrendous actions. Their chance at happiness is gone for now. They are being punished, regardless of what the courts of this country say.

As far as I can tell, these sorts of actions will always exist in this world until each individual takes responsibility for their own actions. No more hatred. No more anger. No more wishing harm for others.

Perhaps it is time for us to realize that if we continue to harbor such unwholesome thoughts of retribution and violence, we will never be much different than these criminals.

Neotechman: Socalism has not, cannot, and will not ever succeed in the United States, or anywhere else. Get over your leftist fantasies. The economic system has nothing to do with this. Are you claiming that under some alternate economic system rape, murder, and the like would not exist? Absolute nonsense. Crime has ALWAYS existed in EVERY society. Feudalism, capitalism, socialism, communism, you name it.

Adams - Pity and compasion for the criminals? They deserve no pity or compassion, they deserve time behind bars, or worse. Since when do criminals deserve a chance at happiness? Long after they've served their sentences, that's when.

Your 'feel-sorry-for-the-criminal' attitude makes me ill! :|

Adams, what kind of crack are you smoking? And where can I get some? ;)

That kind of thinking is what leads to "rehabilitation" programs with repeat offenders.

12 hours is a deliberate and sick attempt. If somone killed a person in the heat of passion & anger, so be it...like walking in on their spouse screwing someone else. But to continually beat, rape and abuse someone for TWELVE FARCKING HOURS??!! You are a fool, bending over to be the next one raped if you feel one ounce of pity for these soulless beasts. There is no way anyone with a shred of decency or soul could sit there and watch a girl being abused over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.

Burn them alive. They already have no soul.

P.S. I hope you don't have a daughter, cuz I'll make sure the parole board knows you'd love to have these boys living next to you, so you can deliver your pity in person.

To me it seems that torturing these guys would be almost os low as what they did to this girl. I strongly oppose all capital punishment for many reasons, but the main one is that I bet that not all of those 30 guys did things. That would be wrong to kill innocent people. Capital punishment is just an excuse to get revenge and/or release anger.

Sad, it's happened again. This time in California.

BERKELEY, Calif. (Reuters) - Nine California school boys between the ages of 11 and 16 are suspected of gang-raping a 12-year-old mentally disabled girl in a nightmarish afterschool ordeal that lasted hours, police said on Thursday.

This is plain WRONG. Who do you blame? Society.... the parents.... our education system?

Too bad the US doesn't have a Siberia. These 'kids' deserve a vacation

Adams - you have a good point.

But lets not get carried away, these men and boys dont need compasion... they need a few moments alone with "Big Bubba" at the local prison.

I am speechless... having worked with developmentally disabled children there is a big possibility that what this little girl just went through she may not even understand and may very well feel that this is how things are "supposed to be." I am so upset I am probably not making sense to any of you right now.

That has to be one of the most shocking things I have ever read in my life. I got chills reading that. How could anyone take part in that?? That just blows me away. I don't even know what to say. I understand how you feel OrByte. I can't even think right now. In my school we have a program called people training where I work with disabled kids. To do that is just so dispicable.
