Schola, So you no longer think that they should be 'slowly cut to death with razor blades'? Good!

IMHO, it is better to hope for love than it is to hope for pain. Sure pain is a lot easier to come by, but love is much more rewarding.

Saxman has a point.
Revenge never really SOLVES, just SATISFIES (don't take that the wrong way)

this is very wrong. but "this world" is coming to nothing, that's the way it has been and way it will be. Do you think that 1000 years ago ppl were any different? they had same murders same rapes, however with today's media the news is spread out to more ppl and with more ppl in smaller area there are more interaction with each other. old ppl always say when they were young kids used to respect ppl and ppl say "the Good OL days".

The fact is people are same. These things have occured before and it'll happen again. Only thing we can do is to know what is right and wrong and try to spread that to ppl around us. I dont believe in taking away every rights of MEN to make one men safe.

However, i do agree this is one of most sickening thing ive heard recently.. I just hope that girl can get over this,(if that's possible) and her family is ok.

just side note- u guys keep on mentioning the fact that she is disabled, i dont see any difference if she was not. Is it not as bad if you rape a normal person over a disabled person? in my eyes rape is a rape.

That's terrible... and the saddest part of all is that while
we speak there are dozens of lawyers, individuals and organizations
rushing to their defence so that they can be returned to society
as soon as possible.

We should learn to slay our monsters, not hand them some rabbit
ears and return them to freedom. :|

Here's something to think about: When having the choice between love and hate, why would you choose hate? When having the choice between hoping that someone will die, or hoping that their life will become full of meaning and purpose, why would you choose death?

Even if they realize that what they did was horrible and their "life becomes meaningful", I don't want known rapists running around free. You're just asking for trouble then. A lot of sex offenders will repeat their crime if they are set free....

i agree partially with saxman, while we cannot kill all of convicts or send them all to rehab center in hopes of curing their "problems". Because we are humans, we dont have someone or something that tells us he or she is perfectly ok to kill or perfectly ok to send to rehab. As humans we can only try our best to judge. Sometimes killing some showing that it's wrong to do such acts and sometimes hoping they'll be better in rehab.

as toph99 said, "such is humanity"

I believe we choose hate because it is human nature. While some may "Rise above it", the majority don't. I also agree with toolgirl, I would not want a known sex offender running loose in my neigborhood.

Schola, I also would not want a known sex offender in my neighborhood. The fact of the matter is, they are often repeat offenders, which is part of the reason why we put people in jail(to keep them from committing crime.) If a sex offender did live in my neighborhood, that would give me even more reason to hope he/she was reformed.

The fact of a matter is, many criminals do not become valuable citizens. Malcom X was considered a criminal. He certainly became a valuable citizen. There is so much potential in ever human being and I hope that that potential is realized(however unlikely that is), rather than destroyed.

Can you imagine being told by your buddy "hey we got this chick locked up down in the basement, you wanna get in on a rape with us?" and then being like "yeah, I could really use a little rape action to round out my day" I don't think these people even USE their brains.

And does it make a difference that she was disabled? Hell yeah it does, a "normal" girl might not have been misled into going with the guys in the first place, and once there a "normal" girl might have been able to see what was happening and maybe escaped or tried to reason with one of the other 26 guys that showed up. That poor girl might have had no clue what was going on...which to me makes the crime even WORSE :|

These kids are by-product of a capitalist society. It is the capitalist idealogy that causes this kind sickness to exist. The promotion of pornography; violence on television, magazines and movies what result in this kind of sickness.

This kind of sickness doesn't just come out of thin air. Everything has a reason to happen.

Yes, what happened to the little girl was terribly wrong...but, the ultimate blame is on the kind of government we have which promotes this kind of sickness.

I hear you, but I hope you don't think a Republican presidency will change all this. This kind of stuff has always happened, in every society, under all governments. We hear about it a lot more thanks to the media, but it is everywhere and always has been. It seems to be a man thing... you don't often hear about women committing these kinds of crimes.

Now, maybe if WOMEN were to govern the world, this stuff wouldn't happen...

;)

If women ruled the world it would introduce a WHOLE new set of problems ;) (and benefits :D), but you would never hear a rapist getting a "light term" if women ruled. Same goes for wife-beaters, child molesters, etc.

Hell, I'd be willing to try that system! Can't be any worse than what we got now :|

I agree, prison is too good for them and a quick death is also too good unfortunately.

And then we should visit their parents and sterilize them so they can't breed anymore. After dealing with abused and neglected kids for more then 6 years we've found that the majority of problems originated with the parents and grandparents. The kids had to learn it from somewhere (and even the worst video games don't come close to this). Too often we try and treat the problem but only end up treating a symptom.

this is a pretty crappy way to start the weekend.
