What the hell is the difference between a Diamond member and an Elite member?

Wee, I just got promoted from a junior member to a member...

But I see that the difference isn't in numbers :
NSF4 has almost 30 posts a day and more than 10000 posts total;
Red Dawn has about 23 posts a day and about 8000 posts total;
both are elite memebers.

on the other hand :
Paulson has more than 32 posts a day and more than 9000 posts total;
Mday has more than 21 posts a day and more than 7000 posts total;
Both are Diamond members.

What's the difference between em?

Elite membership is awarded on merit, from the Administrator, rather than automatically based on post count.

It's not the sheer number of posts that gets you Eilte it's quality in your posts that get's judged by the almighty mods. They will in their wisdom sometimes promote special members to Elite.

The mods do not decide who becomes elevated to elite status. That is the Administrator's prerogative.
