What the hell is the C:/_RESTORE/ folder taking up 500 megs on my hd?

I have a WinME/Win2k Dual Boot, and on my WinME drive, there is a folder named _RESTORE, taking up a bunch of space.

I don't think I need it, but I can't delete it because it says Access Denied.

Any Ideas?

Go to My Computer -> Properties -> Performance tab -> File System button - Look for "System Restore disk space use" under Settings. That is how much disk space is used for system restore. It's like a cache -- when it fills up the first system restore is deleted. You can lower the amount of memory it uses if you want, you will just have fewer system restore points.

what exactly does that mean?

I have used the registry restore feature before, but I am unfamiliar with the System Restore feature...

What is a reasonable size to use?

Thats a feature of WinMe that will restore your system to a selected restore point if you corrupt your files and have trouble.. you go to the system restore section and select restore points when you have a good operating system going and in the future should you have a screw up it will restore your system the way it was at that restore point. Its good to set restore points after each major install of software or a device to reduce the amount of reinstalls to get to the point you are now. Otherwise it will restore only what was there at the time you select the restore point.
