What the hell is Nintendo thinking?

Confirmed by Nintendo UK.

WTH Nintendo? What's the point of the online service if people have to remember all those numbers for EACH game for EACH person?!?

Maybe so you can have certain friends for certain games, rather than people who follow you around and bother you all the time.

It's Nintendo. You'll get two games a year and you'll like it. And only five games ever will feature online.

Fixed.

Nintendo also just announced its adopting gamespy as a middleware provider for wii's online, which means the option for devs to do things differently (no friend codes, just pc style) is there. Gamespy does offer a built in friend's list that they may be able to carry from game to game as well.

Jeeze.. game spy fcking sucks.

Because Nintendo hasn't "gotten" online gaming yet. It is likely that it won't be until 2008 that you see 3rd party games online.

Take the Wii for what it is...an in-home party machine.

I couldn't care less. I own a Wii for single player games primarily. Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Fire Emblem, etc, etc... the only multiplayer I intended to do is the likes of Smash Bros and Mario Kart with my friends, in my living room, split screen while drunk. So much more fun than doing it online.

I don't see the Wii being much for online gaming. But, I have a computer for that. Still, how they designed a gaming machine so well but completely missed the mark with the online component is baffling.

It's like that on the DS too.

The only "console" I have is the DS, and I don't even play that anymore. Am I becoming and old fart? I'll be 33 in two months!!!
