Just got email from my ISP. They are offering from 1.1.2005 ADSL2+ @ 24Mb/1Mb :Q
And the price is not bad... BUT WHAT THE HELL IS ADSL2+

I know I prolly need a new modem, as mine goes to 8Mb/1Mb?

:veryconfused;

What? Where can you get more than 1mb up in a home user solution?

FIOS

and it doesnt suck, 1mb is 3x what i have now but its sucks because its so disproportional to the down speed, OOL is 10/1 if you double it it should be 20/2 or 24/2.5

I saw a topic on it in a conference and did a presentation on it. Too bad I can't recall the details of it. 😛

Well, that was helpful

...NOT! 😉

FIOS is not even widely spread yet. I mean it's only in select parts of the country and we don't even know if it will grow any further. What if the bandwidth becomes too expensive for them to keep up with that service?

😛 Just think of it as a newer/faster ADSL2 standard. It uses twice the normal frequency spectrum for higher throughput. I do remember that after 1000ft or so, it'll drop back down to ADSL2 speeds which is like 10Mbps..... happy now?

Ok! As long as its better than my 4Mb/512Kb I'm so gonna get it... Just trying to find what kind of hardware (modem) I need for it?

You lucky effers.

All we can get here is 5 down 1 up (cable), & that's heavily monitored, so you can't even enjoy your speed.
Hence why i am still on my 1.5 down 512 up (DSL)...they don't seem to mind my excessive dl/ul-ing
