What the hell hit my rear bumper? PICS!

This is driving me insane. SOMETHING tagged my rear bumper, left the STRANGEST circle marks, and absolutely no one is able to come up with any solid idea of what it could be. Take a look at my pics and see if you can help me out. What the heck could have hit me?? I would have given up finding the person, but the circles are absolutely mind boggling!!!! If I can make a match, it has to be the person....it's just too damn destinctive. My car is a 2002 Toyota Celica and I have walked my entire area around where I live and have search my workplace parking lot for two days now!!! The circles appear as if they were scratched in, meaning it looks as if something depressed the skin, and they are too perfectly spaced apart to be a dual exhaust backup attempt gone awry.

The circles look a little too perfect to me. I have no idea what might have done that. I don't think a car would have done that unless it just slightly tapped you but this may be the case. It also might be a shopping cart that was tapped into your car. That might just scratch it up if it wasn't moving very fast.

I hope you find who/what did it.

When I used to install automatic fire sprinkler systems, we had lots of pipe on the top of the truck. If it was not fastend very tightly, it could slide off. Looks like that may have happened, they hit the brakes and the pipes slid off. We had them all shoot off once, what a mess.

Two questions -

1. Can you take a pic to show the whole back end of the bumper and put a circle around where the marks are? I'm having troubles getting a good idea where on the car it is, how big of a area it covers, and how far off the ground it is.

2. What nature of business would the parking lot this happened in be in? Meaning, would they be selling pipes or tubing or anything of the sort?

Unfortunately I noticed them this past Saturday after I arrived at my parents house to drop some stuff off from my brother. I noticed one mark..."oh, that's nice"...noticed another..."uhmm..ohhk??"....then I noticed the circles and every profanity you can think of came out of my mouth. I washed my car about a week ago and noted nohing...unfortunately, my time frame is about a week.

My driving is very limited and my parking is in only two places.

1. Work - College Campus
2. Home - I live right down the street from a city high school and kids park outside my house all the time.

All I can think of is in that time frame I got nailed by someone.

Like I said in the initial post, I would simply have given up if the only marks were the screw/hex hits...but those damn circles at least offer me hope.

I'll see what I can do and whoever asked about towing...nope, I never towed anything with my car.

I wish I had a picture of something to go on, so if anyone has seen anything remotely like that, send me a link or tell me where I can look. Also, the pipes falling thing doesn't add up if they shot from a roof of a car. The circles are too low in my opinion.

the most noticeable scuff on the left side looks like a screw (probably license plate screw) so it was probably a front end that hit your bumper (my best guess) i am not sure what the other perfect circles are..

Had that happen to my 6 mo Lexus a few years back in the supermarket.

looks like either a licence plate screw set, or the brushguard of a suv/truck. those often have "speed holes" that would look somewhat like that. Probably a little low though *shrug*

that was what i thought too, but those circles are jsut way too low even for a wannabe SUV like an Ion or CRV.
