I remember back 6-7 years ago they always had 10-15 really nice complicated models. I went to their web-site and so far I could only find 3-4...

They're still too danged expensive. Plus, people aren't buying that much anymore, so then they aren't doing so well.

I remember back when I was 14-16 I would do anything to get some of those models. I had a big yellow escavator (666 pieces) and I loved it. I guess kids nowadays prefer video games.

they still have a bunch in stores. but they have different themes now, like a soccer one. they suck compared to the old ones, imho.

Yeah, that and they're selling out. It used to be Space, City, and maybe Castle or Pirate Legos. Now there are Lego sets for EVERY popular movie, like 4000 different space-type "themes" and all kinds of stupid whatever's "hot" at the time-themed sets. 90% of the pieces in the sets are specialty-made, so it's more like putting together a model than building something with what they give you. I don't think they even make the regular old 4x4 or 4x6 "bricks" that they started out with.

I still have my Lego pirate ship in my room... The pirates were the best. :)

I also had the Lego airport, with plane and helicopter, those were cool too.

All of the older ones were cool, especially the space and medieval ones.

I remember my brother accidentally stepped on the big lego airport that I had, I was soooo pissed.

I still have the space station train thing downstairs, I have the urge to play with it now...

I have tons of them..but they're 1400 miles north of me now :)
They're the old ones, too - the old old airport, the old airport, some construction stuff, police, fire dpt, older space, castles, pirates, etc...those were the days :)

I used my legos for about 7 years... my parents probably spent somewhere between 400-500 dollars on them, but i used them every day for at least 2 hours. They were the greatest things. In fact my parents still have all my legos somewhere, so i can give them to my kids someday.

Most of the new Lego sets really such, they have such crappy sets with crappy themes now. They should go back to the old school style of building and such, they'd do a lot better.

Robin Hood type, pirates, knights, and a few space ones were all I had. They are getting too much like putting a model together than constructing anything though.

<< I want a Transformer Lego set. >>

Damn that would be badass. The old transformer toys were sooo cool. I was playing with the new Optimus Prime firetruck yesterday. Damn thing sucks compared to the old toys...

Still have my big box'o'Lego (by Samsonite!) in the closet. The most specialized pieces back then (1973 or so) were rubber-tired wheels, gears, doors, windows and roof tiles. Imagination played
a much bigger role than with today's this-is-what-these-make models. But I do crave a Mindstorms robotics set :p

My 10 year old brother is totally obsessed with legos, he spends every spare second in his room playing with legos.

Lego's aren't dead yet.

Legos were definetly awesome, I played with them all the time, but as people here have already said, now they're

a)too expensive
b)too "themed"

I loved my Technic collection. My favorite was the Super Car, a full 18 inches long with like 1100 pieces or something. It took me six hours to build and left my back in horrible condition. But it was damn worth it.
