Ok, so there are some people on my soccer team that that ginseng before games saying it helps keep them going. Now my question is, can just taking it one day before a game do anything at all for you, or do you have to take it for a couple weeks to get the effects of it?

For any useful comments, thanks in advance.

It will work, in a limited fashion. Because it is herbal, you should use it in a prgram, which will keep a certain level of stimulant present in your bloodstream..

I once popped two yellojackets 1/2 before going to a club. Came back at 4 am, I got into bed at 4:45 am, lied in my bed awake until 7:30 am, slept hardcore from 7:30 AM--8:00 AM, went to work at 9:30 AM. The pills basically had me wide awake all night and I started to get extremely drowsy because of the lack of sleep. Also, YJ's make you feel like you have an infinite amount of energy but the next day, all the tiredness will catch up to you.

I really wouldn't trust any of that herbal crap. I don't think any of it is tested by the FDA.

Ginseng, in combination with other herbal extracts such as ginko bulba can help out with a minimal amount of energy. More importantly though, your team is falling victim to the placebo effect and the ginseng is more of a ritual than anything chemically beneficial.

It's really no different than having a big spaghetti dinner the day before an athletic event. It really doesn't help any, and the carbs would prove to be much more useful 2-3 days before the event rather than 8 hours before it. But, you should never underestimate the power of the placebo effect and the pregame rituals that teams go through.

I knew some guys that couldn't run a cross country race well without hearing Metallica's "through the never" on the bus ride to the meet.

are you describing extassy? I believe that's the way extassy work.

Ginseng as far as I know will give you more power, more fresh but will not make you more tired after.... I maybe wrong on this one....

I wouldn't take too many Mini Thins though. They'll make you feel cracked out.
