What the hell does someone want when they come to your house at 3:30 AM?

Seriously. Last night, I was awoken from my peaceful slumber by my doorbell ringing. At first, I thought it wasn't real, but I got up to investigate anyways.
I looked through the peephole, and it took me a few seconds to realize there was actually a person there (my eyes had to adjust to the light outside, from a lightbulb). I could not make out who the person was, but before I could bring myself to say anything or open the door (I wasn't fully clothed), the person left. I then went to my window to watch this person (who I now discovered was female) go to her car, and open the passenger door and talk to the driver. She then went to another building (I live in a condo). A minute later, she comes back to the car, gets in, and they drive off.

I am now intrigued..what could she (or they) have possibly wanted at that hour? In any case, they woke me up, and I couldn't get back to sleep, so i'm going to drag ass for the rest of the day. :(

Maybe they were waiting for you to open the door so they could do a home invasion and rob you. :Q

Sex or dope. Duh.

My wife's uncle (who's since passed away) was living in a fleabag motel when he got the chicken pox. So here's this 30yo man with chicken pox just trying to survive the misery alone when EVERY NIGHT hookers would come banging on the door looking for drugs, and the pimps looking for the hookers. Usually around 3am like yours. He moved out of there as soon as he was better and into my in-laws... heh

I dunno, but if I'm not expecting it you can bet I'll be armed when I open the door.

Nativesunshine had a good story about this..

Someone rang the doorbell of her house at a very odd late night time/early morning and when they opened it a dude started demanding money from a guy who never lived there. Was a bookie or something like that, maybe. Saying they owed money and needed to pay.

A little later when he saw that he was at a house filled with Asian people he said something like.. oops, wrong house, and left.

She should be able to tell it better later.

I think if I could do it again, I would have opened the door because I am damn curious to what they wanted. I wasn't thinking clearly of course, as I was in a post wake-up haze.

Edit: I don't live in the ghetto...I don't think they were looking for drugs. Why would they come up to my place (3 flrs up) if they could try the other places?

I once had a friend come over at that time to introduce his new girlfriend to my pug dog, Lou.

God I hope not. If I was going to someones home , I would make DAMN sure I had the right building before I rang the freaking doorbell at 3:30 AM. But, you are probably right. If I had opened the door, and she said "oops wrong building" i'd be pissed.

I once sleep-walked to the house next door at 2AM and asked to use their bathroom (this was when I was ~10 years old). I used their bathroom (no spillage, better than my own house!), said thanks, came back, and went to bed. I didn't known until the next morning.

they were looking to score, and were given bad directions.

No way i'd open my door at 3:00 a.m. to anyone, unless it
was someone i knew.
