So I hear this song on the radio, and I'm like, "Hrm"
So I open Kazaa Lite, find a particular file with three sources, and download it. At pseudo-random intervals in the song, it fades to this and then returns to normal. This happens about a dozen times throughout, with the exact same sound... thing... each time.

What the hell is this?

I thought it could be something like that... but no less than 3 people have this file, and it's a rare song on the fileshares.

I belive that it is a file encrytion protection technology, much like that of the ones found on some of todays cds from companies like sony, etc. If the intervals are the same, I'm almost sure its some type of file protection scheme. If you can find out who publisehes the song on the cd it was encoded from, this may be able to be confirmed.

The intervals are semi-regular. The times between the sounds are...

54 seconds before the first one
then 21 seconds to the next
then 21 seconds
then 19 seconds
then 29 seconds
then 23 seconds
then 24 seconds.

Distributer of the album is BMG.

[edit] This is "Freakshow" from Stretch Princess' album Fun With Humans, label is Wind-Up Records.
