What the HELL am I missing here??

So I put together this new system last night and at first it wouldn't even turn on.

This morning it finally started after I played around with it some.

I went to the BIOS and checked a few things, and I noticed one of the CD roms wasn't showing up. I noticed the ribbon cable wasn't plugged in all the way so I shut it off and plugged it in.

Now it will NOT boot.

The power light on the monitor just keeps flashing.

I cleared the BIOS, no help.

I've tried unplugging the CD roms, no help, the hard drives, no help, the floppy, no help. I've tried 2 different video cards, no help. Another power supply, no help, another CPU, no help. I've tried different cables, no help.

The only thing I haven't tried is another stick of memory, this is the only one I have that is DDR PC 2700, although I do have a set of DDR400, but I doubt it's the memory.

There is a jumper to clear everything if a bad OC has been done, I even cleared that, no love....

What am I missing here?

Bad monitor?

Thats about the only thing I haven't changed....

M/B is a MSI M7NCD

Your motherboard might be shorted. Check to see if there is an extra riser that might be on the motherboard tray sticking out touching a part of the motherboard with no holes for a riser. Just remove it to fix the problem.

I thought of that and looked it over. (Not that well though...)

I'll look closer.

Thanks

I pulled the M?B out, checked everything for grounds, looked good.

Still nothing....

I'm about ready to try another M/B 🙁

I tried that.

I just swapped mother boards and now everything is peachy.

I guess the M/B was just gunny bagged. 🙁

Bummer, I just got it awhile back and this is the first time I've tried to get it going.

and cpu.

but from the sounds of it you know what you're doing and the motherboard is probably bad.

I thought that went without saying...

Well the board was a trade out for some other stuff I had.

I got this and some other stuff for a set of MTB wheels I had for sale...
