JediYoda mentioned something about PC P&C's new line of Okia PSUs. Maybe OCZ and PC P&C switched OEM mfgs, so OCZ had to can their (relatively recent, I think) line of Z series PSUs.

OKIA PSUs are from Broadway Com Corp.

Honestly, OCZ probably would have been better off sticking with Sirfa than moving to Okia. Talk about moving even further down the quality scale.......

Funky. Well I did notice they killed the non-modular golds and kept the modular. Go figure. Still hoping they finally go to a high quality oem, not expecting it to happen though.

seasonic, enermax, thermaltake, and some other asian brand have/are coming out with the new psus using the DC-DC (main 12v with 3 and 5 off of the 12 line) design.
Given the power efficiency and temp advantages of this new design, the other makers/branders may be EOL their older series so they can transition over to the new DC-DC paradigm.
Interestingly all the DC-DC versions i've seen reviewed are modular, it may take time for the other makers to settle the modular cable patent rights with Ultra.

maybe dedicated wiring of the 3/5v DC-DC costs more than modular. Since all you have to do with a modular is route the 3 and 5 v into the daughter card rails vs having to hand solder/connect the non-modular wires.

It was a joke./..OKIA is one of the most generic PSU you can purchase...in fact they usually come bundled with a case..lolol

He obviously has zero concept of time. Also nobody ever said anything about recalls.

And, apparently, no one at OCZ said anything about making a profit, either.

In the nine months ending in Nov. 30, 2009, OCZ lost $7.029M (million). Of course, that's better than the nine months ending in Nov. 30, 2008 when OCZ lost $11.165M. (Those nine months equate to OCZ's first three FY quarters....'08 and '09.)

But power supplies seem to be a very small sideline for OCZ as the company says it intends to focus on SSD/flash as its primary sales vehicle.

We are dedicated to becoming a leader in the SSD market.....with our SSD product mix growing to 70-80%.

(Above taken from OCZ's most recent SEC filings.....quote made by Ryan Petersen, President and CEO, OCZ.)

And with OCZ's stated goal of having 70-80% of their sales coming from SSD/flash, (OCZ's memory products currently make up a bit over 50% of OCZ's sales and power supplies at around 15% or so), one can only wonder what OCZ really has in mind for continuing its power supply business.

It wouldn't surprise me to eventually see OCZ cut PCP&C loose and completely discontinue power supply sales.
