What the heck, New wireless NIC wont work in laptop but old one works........

I just got a linksys wpc54g wireless nic for my hp laptop (ze4101) and it freezes up my computer when i put it in. When i try my old POS hawking wireless NIC it picks it up asap. OS is XP home.
I did some searching but didnt find anything, any suggestions would be awesome.

I have a similar problem, though it's sporradic and doesn't always happen. I have a D-Link cardbus wireless nic but my system will lock at the bootup screen (when it shows XP Pro with the moving bar beneath it). May be some sort of the same problems as it happens also sometimes when I put it in when I'm already in Windows. Unfortunately I haven't found a solution for it.
