xp1700 & k7s5a, it tried to post and gave me a low cmos batt & wrong memory size. running new ddr and the board is new out of the box. now i've got a blackscreen and it won't turn off by power button. gonna try some sdram and see. any help would be great. jer

did you make sure you plugged the power button in the right pins? and are you sure you grounded yourself correctly when you installed all of this?

yeah i had a strap on the wrist.and followed the mobo manual. i'll pull it back apart and see what happens. i just don't understand why i'm not even getting a check cable connection and the blackscreen. jer

<< it won't turn off by power button >>

will it turn on by manually shorting the power up pins? if so, then its got to be something fuzzy with ur case power button. and also, if the board is new outta the box and ur getting low cmos battery prompts, i would first try a new battery. if that does not eliminate the prob, i'd exchange the mobo.

bout' to pull everything but the power button. pulled the ddr, tried sdram, i know the power button is fine. just pulled a 400 out of this box. changed the ps to 300w. its a little dim. i don't think the ps is bad, just don't know why i'm not getting video. jer

try sticking in another video card. try another agp card. it the problem still persists, try a pci card.

using a pci, don't have annothter vid card. changed slots, still no vid. guess it's a bad board. any ideas? jer

o.k. this is a pisser, found a agp i had forgotten about. pulled everything apart double check connections. hit the button and just like before the fans spin up, (oh, and replaced the onboard batt.)tried a different moniutor.the monitor clicked on like it was getting a signal and then nothing. am i looking at a mobo or proc. problem? still won't turn off using the power button.
