What the heck happened to the 8900 series?

Speculated 8900 Specs

If i Google GeForce 8900, at least the first page of results is from no later than 4 or 5 months ago. I haven't heard anything else since then. Other than waiting for DDR3 prices to drop more, this is the other missing piece of the upgrade puzzle for my new PC build.

Anyone heard anything?

At this point , we don't know what Nvidia will call the next series of cards. It's somewhat likely that they decided to completely skip doing a refresh on the G80 and are going straight to a new GPU design.

That chart in the OP looks like someone was just making up product specs based on educated guesses. Seeing how wrong those speculations were gives me little reason to believe any current speculations. What I do believe, however, is that regardless of what Nv calls their future products this year, you will not bee seeing a high end card with 2x the performance of a 8800gtx or any significantly new/improved features. What I'm expecting to see is a die shrink and speed bump, basically a refresh.
