Pfizer is voted one of the top companies to work for. They don't only rank in salary either. Pharmaceuticals is lots-o-cash. I worked for a pharmaceutical company only 3 months when I switched to IBM (strange career path, I know) and they still compensated me for a whole year's worth of vacation pay among other things. I was like... whoa, I'm coming back if IBM doesn't pan out. Stick with it huey. No matter what the economy is like, health care is where it's at.

yeah, no matter what the economy is like, people will always get sick. since the employer will pay for 100% tuition and books with no limit, i plan on getting either MBA or Master's in regulatory affairs sometime in the future, taking classes evenings and weekends.

I worked for Regulatory Affairs at my pharma company (a summer contract + 3 months full-time)... using my DB skills to help documentation. Good times, good benefits.

cool! how did you like it? i hear Regulatory Affairs can be a real drag at times, but a good career path nonetheless. if end up in RA, most likely i'll actually be putting together the documents, to submit them to FDA. i mentioned getting MBA, just so i can have something to fall back on, in case i plan on changing my career path. but if i don't end up going to any more grad school, then i will probably do clinical work (using patients and healthy volunteers for drug experiments).

Amen, I spent 2 years at WMS Gaming repairing the electronics (CPU Boards, IO Boards, Power Supplys, Monitors) inside casino games.... was a great job... but now Im a field tech, its alot of labor installing/repairing mills and lathes and such but I dont go to an office, I work out of my house, my boss lives 40 miles away, and they gave me a truck that I can use on personal time also... my car has no trans right now so its a godsend, even if the money is less, it is much more enjoyable!

Shockingly enough, I'm still in school. Working on my PhD in engineering mechanics--which basically means, at the moment, I do a lot of "publishable" (meaning: hasn't been done before) research for the USARL and get paid the poverty line to do it. But I'll get out one day.....
