what the heck? 6000dpi?

i have a Intellimouse Explorer 3.0. when i bought it at best buy about a year ago or so it very was one of the fastest mice out (comparable to logitech's latest MX at the time). on the back of the packaging it doesn't say the dpi, so i went to the next best thing...google. i typed in "intellimouse explorer 3.0 dpi" in the search and it came up with 6000dpi on more than one sites. i couldn't find anything less. how accurate is this 6000dpi info?
