Hi,
Iam happy workin with my box doin' the usual, surfing downloading -the works. Before i go to work i thought i defragment my c:. Well win2k refused to do so and i thought a restart
would do the trick (it had been on for 7 days).
NO WAY!
After the restart i could'nt get back on the desktop, windows complaining about the registry hive "software" being corrupt.
Everything i tried failed (ofcourse i didn't make any backups or had an emergency repair disk handy) and i had to reinstall again.
Have you got any idea what might have caused this? The box is usually on 5-6 days on a row
and it's very stable. I did not do any installs/upgrades prior to this crash.
when i checked, the software hive was 0 in the old winnt directory.
My box:
asus a7v bos:1006
athlon thunderbird 700@800
crucial cas2 384mb
asus geforce 256ddr
ibm 75gxp 45 gb(according to the ibm tool healthy)
