Stupid Catholicism and its stupid technicalities.
Like the whole universe revolving around the Earth doctrine they had for so long. When did they finally repeal that....wasn't it in the late 1980's?Originally posted by: DaveSimmons
If I were the parents I'd be changing to a different brand of Christianity, but that's just me.
The church has a doctrine and members have to accept it to truly be in the faith and not just going through the motions. It's not my faith, and I think worshipping a giant spider is a bit silly, but I have to respect people willing to uphold the terms of their faith.

Found it....the Catholic Church admitted it was wrong about the whole universe revolving around the Earth thing on October 31st, 1992.
Way to go there Popey......only took....from the mid 1400's to 1992.....damn that was fast.
Personally, I could never be a part of any faith that condemns good people to eternal suffering just because they didn't follow the proper rituals call their creator by a different name, or lived a good life without accepting the existence of any creator.Originally posted by: shinerburke

If someone has accepted Catholicism as their spiritual path they are obligated to believe Timmy will burn in hell along with every Buddhist, Muslim, Shintoist, Athiest, Agnostic, Protestant, etc. who doesn't follow the letter of their law. Catholicism is an autocratic faith where open-mindedness is rebellion against divinely inspired truth, and away from the path to salvation.

Wrong. Catholicism is founded on the idea that whatever your sins are, you can be forgiven as long as you accept God. No catholic is "obligated to believe" that anyone will burn in hell. That is the most ridiculous thing I've heard.
It's funny how gay-bashing around here gets you banned, but bashing religion is somehow accepted. It's one thing to not share the same beliefs as someone, but to mock people about it is rude.

It's one thing to disagree with a religion, but to openly bash other people's beliefs not only makes you hypocrital, but makes a lot of asses out of the 9 out 10 of you that are just BSing about what you don't know about.

No, you are WRONG. I had Catholic Doctrine literally BEAT into my head for 13 years.
According to THEM, ALL other religions are false and God will deny you entry into heaven for believing in them. According to the Catholics, there is ONE correct religion; Catholicism. Not "Christianity" not "Baptist" "Buddhist" etc.
IMO ALL organized religion stinks and is for weak people, but that's not the topic; me making you look stuipid is.
