I'm not familiar with that term, please expand on what you mean by "Christmas."

Just about every major religion does something on Christmas.

Or at least Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

They all believe in Jesus in one way or another.

BTW I assume it is the Vatican Mass?

anyways if fox news wants to put mass on in prime time, good for them. I don't watch them often and definitely won't tonight

In America some of them do, but its hard to ignore Christmas around here :)

Not sure if your IQ is under 10, but I believe he was wondering why it is on a news station. I don't see the problem with it personally.

I don't have a problem with major cable 'news' networks showing parts of religious ceremonies..

As much as I hate Fox News and CNN lately for distorting reality, I don't think attacking them for showing religious things is even fair. I think that if these 'news' networks maybe showed more about EVERY religion or non-religion with the idea that acceptance is the key, fewer people might be so shortsighted.

Same reason CNN shows midnight mass on Christmas. Because they are 24 hour news networks who report on major events around the world and have no news to report anyways at midnight on Christmas so they fill the slot in hopes of gaining viewers by showing some sort of religious ceremony celebrating the birth of Christ.

There is coverage of most major religious events. I saw tape for several days recently of the Haj, there is usually some mention (with tape) of Hanukkah ceremonies, some Christmas stuff (frequently from the Vatican) ... even Kwanza, which is not really a religious thing.

I've never seen any coverage of Diwali, even though we have a large Indian population and substantial temple in our far western 'burbs (BAPS, Chicago).

This is just normal coverage, and it tends to be proportional to the likely viewing audience.

If you are a staunch {religion A} and some news show is trying to tell you all about {religion b | c | d} chances are you'll change the channel if it goes for more than a minute or two. People are selfish learners for the most part. If they're interested, they'll pick up the details ... if not, you couldn't drive 'em home with a sledge hammer and it'd just be wasted airtime and / or lost viewers.

Merry Christmas!

didn't mean to sound angry or anything in the OP, I just thought it was weird.

it wasn't coverage of a mass, it was a televised mass ala sunday morning televangelists.

just seemed weird for a news channel... CNN had larry king on at the same time and I was looking for some background noise ;)

Well I'm an Atheist and if I saw Fox or CNN showing a bunch of naked women celebrating by dancing around a Festivus Pole I think I'd watch. I bet Corbett would too!

Actually, it was a televised Christmas service from Rick Warren's Church out in California. Hes not a televangelist, but he is a pastor and the author if the best selling hard back book of all time "The Purpose Driven Life"

Only reason I did was because the OP was obviously doing the same.
