Hayden responded, “Pretty simple: NSA doesn’t target Americans despite all those urban legends out there.”
House Ways and Means Committee investigators recently learned that Lerner’s hard drive was “damaged but recoverable” by talking to IRS information-technology experts. This development came after the government refused to make them available, according to the committee.
Hayden went on to make this offer to Kelly: “I’ve seen the technicians at NSA take hard drives that terrorists think they have destroyed and actually pull an awful lot of data from them. So I’ll make you a deal, you go find those destroyed hard drives, we’ll see what we can do.”

Why has someone with just a little bit of knowledge just call IRS Commissioner John Koskinen a god damn liar, cause he is.

I would ask him to explain how a failed hard drive on a work station destroys that employee's emails stored on the server, and the backups of the server data.

I work for the government and this story reminds me of something I learned today. Apparently when someone leaves the agency all of their emails are immediately purged and destroyed. So no public records request can be made for them.

So you haven't been paying any attention to this story as it's unfolded? Because if you had, you would already know the answer to that question.

I don't think he is truly lying. He's being kept ignorant on purpose. Just think of the affect it would have on your career to tell your superior the truth to the extent that he got fired. Better to keep him in the dark so he keeps his job and then he in turn makes sure you keep yours. That's how you move up in an organization.
