I noticed in Win98 First Edition you get more fps in games.

Second Edition is more polished but a bit slower.

More often than not, updated versions are NOT faster than the original? Why? Because the providers usually pour in more support and fix bugs, not optimizations. What OS/program have you used that actually got faster (I didn't say, "better&quot with a newer release?

The RC5 client keeps getting faster

Really though, I think Office 97 at least "seemed" a lot faster to load and whatnot than Office 95. And Office2k seems about the same as 97 from what I can remember.
