I downloaded an mpg file and when I open it with Windows Media Player it says "An invalid media type was selected"

I have other mpg's, why doesn't this one work??

Sorry mods, I thought the other forum was ok. Someone was asking about rm extension types, sounded like the same ballpark to me.

Either way, I'll keep it here in the future.

Gspot doesn't detect codecs on mpegs aparently.

And I can't redownload the 621 meg file really. Both versions of windows media player came up with the same error

Make a copy of the MPG file and fix it using VCDGear.

Actually, before you try that, try using the Media Player Classic from my link...I've had cases where certain media files wouldn't play in the normal Media Player.

MPC said, "count not render some of the pins in the grpah, you may not have the needed codecs or filters installed on the system. The following pin(s) failed to find a connectable filter:
MPEG-2 Splitter::Video"

..........???

Cool, found what I needed to make it work. Turns out the video was a snowboarding video instead of what I was looking for...damnit!
