What temperature is too hot?

Hello

i got tbird 1ghz on a asus a7v133 mobo with alpha PAL6035 with delta fan
on asus probe when idle cpu temperature is 54-56C. Is this too hot?

A.Z.

thats kinda high. but you need to remember that asusprobe shows the temp about 7-10c higher then most other motherboard's (because of the way it measures the temp) so most other boards would probably show your temp around 46c

AMD says the opertating temps upperlimit is 60c

but... if you plan on overclocking you will need to be well under the 60c amd recomends

So how can i reduce the temperature?
the cpu itself is kinda old..says 1999 on it. does this have anything to do with high temperature?
I was planning on running it 133*7.5 instead of 100*10

Boonesmi,

Where did you hear that? THe max operating tmep is 90-95C die temp, but max "read" temp depends on what mb and how the mb interprets socket-thermistor temp. ON an A7V class MB, 54-56C is perfectly fine.

AVzay66,

You probably won't be able to do anything to drop the temp significantly. Know that your temps are in the "normal" range for stadnard and even overclocked a7vs.

your temp is perfectly fine. As long as it is not crashing. If the chip is hot then it's burned. So yours is still working so don't worry too much about it.

To mikewarrior2. I have a TB800@1050 on asus a7v. temps..mb 31c and cpu 48-50c running rc5,prime,3dmarklooping. monitored by mbm and asus which showed same temps. vcore=1.85 vio=3.6
should i be getting higher temps?

What bios revision are you using? And for that speed t-bird, those are perfectly acceptable(nad for an a7v, pretty darn good) temps.

Mike

thanks😀. latest bios 1006 which was spread around. tried 1004c-1005d-avu102a1(a7v133bios) bioses all seem to be the same. but idle stays 45c. on old bios1003? idle stays 36c weird😕

If you are really worried, you can use conductive grease on your HS and chip instead of conductuve tape. (If you haven't already) This helped me drop a couple of degrees.

thanks again mike for clearing it up. for A.Z. I have same hs but using y.s.tech fan w/ AS. what i did was bend my clip more(risky, and might not hear comp)cause clip seems to soft/easy to put on. where i live(central florida) it worries me of summer:frown:.
