What temp?

Humm, i was wondering, my Duron 600 with a normal heatsink/fan (not overclocked) runs at like 45-50degrees celcius ... is that normal ?

Any feedback is greatly appreciated !

Maeb !

Thats fine. Have a look at go.to/kt7faq and then click on link for heat issues. It states there that AMD say up 90 celcuis MAX. And it also lists somewhere giving you known temps for diff cpus with diff fans and heat sinks.

Are you getting instability? If so then it may be too hot, or you could have another prob.

I just install a thunderbird 700 and loaded 10 or so apps (like calc, paint, etc) and ran Quake 3 and UT and could play them...they were jerky but they played (I only have 128Mb PC100 memory) and the CPU temp went to 72 celcuis and it did not crash once.

hope that helps

On my taste it's kind of hot. I'd say you are running it on the edge.
And I wouldn't recommend to start overclocking fron such a temps.
Check the contact between CPU and heatsink. DOn't forget Arctic Silver.
Sorry for reminding.

With my MB temp at about 28c my duron 600@892 (105x8.5) at 1.7v, runs 47c idle. when I cool down the MB to 21c it runs 36c, and the other day I closed the window in the room and the heat was on so the mb was 33c and the cpu 59c. there was also a little message on the screen saying a fatal exception error occured. whoops.

under load (3dmark2000 or RC5) the temp goes up 2 or 3c. This is all with the retail heatsink and cheap radioshack compound. I'll soon be replacing the heatsink and compound with some better stuff, until then I'll just keep my window open. 😀
