what temp. is too high?

I have an athlon tbird 900, and just finished putting together my system. I turned it on, and the PC health feature of the kt7-raid says my CPU is at about 85F, and after a bit it rose to 95F. the system temp. was about 65F. what's the best operating tempurature for procs? 95F seems too high, so I shut it off. I have the heatsink and fan on it, along with two exhaust fans.

oh, and nothing is being overclocked, and the BIOS reported the voltage as I think 1.83V...any ideas?

95F is good. Try to keep in the 40C range (105 f). 55C (131f) is right on the line of too high. but your temp is great. Next time post in C though, everyone here uses that🙂.

If those temperatures were in Celsius, then they are definitely far too high, but if they were actually in Fahrenheit, then they are quite good! (95 degrees Fahrenheit is only 35 degrees Celsius, and that is easily within normal operating temperatures - you could get up near 50 degrees Celsius before even starting to worry about your temperatures..)

I'm guessing your using the older KT7 bios('s). Your temp readings are totally off. If you are using the stock heatsink, you're looking at a peak cpu core temp of around 18C over ambient(at best).

So, if it is the retail heatsink, your cpu is running in the neighborhood of 130F. Which is normal for a duron/t-bird.
