Biotech. I want to know how science will help us humans to live better and healthier. Maybe I am daydreaming.

Oh, and clean tech to reduce pollution (air, water, land), especially in developing countries.

Edit: How to eliminate/reduce plastics of all kind. Those things are everywhere.

- Space race 2.0 (China landed on Mars recently)
- Sex stuff with VR
- Elon's Neuron link or whatever.. direct brain interface would be very interesting.

Out of those I'd say PCs/components. I'm not super deeply into it, like when people start blurting out model numbers I don't really know if that's good or not without looking at actual specs. But in general I still prefer PCs for doing work and consuming or even building servers with so it's what I tend to be more into and I sometimes like to think about future builds and going on retail sites to put parts together... and boy is that not easy right now lol. Nothing is in stock. Not that I plan to buy but I still like to look at what my options are if I wanted to. Phones/tablets don't interest me more than say, cars. in fact cars probably interest me more. I see phones as a tool and tablets as a toy and possibly a tool if you have a use case, and I'll do some research before buying but I don't end up super deeply into it. I find the ecosystems are too closed and proprietary. With PCs at least it's more open, like I can change components, put another OS on it like Linux, write my own software if I want etc. I mean sure you can write apps for mobile devices but you need a very proprietary development environment and it's a pain to setup. On PC I can use any text editor I want and gcc and I'm golden.

AI, Machine learning, and Neural Networks
Biotech
Nanotech
Fusion

Pretty much all subjects I understand very little about, but enough to find them fascinating. Obviously, none of these represent anything near consumers for in-home use.

I didn't vote in the POLE since my answers were basically "none of the above" heh.

For a serious on-topic reply I chose PC-tech BUT really almost any kind of cutting-edge technology is of interest to me.

I write database programs for my own use that have many different approaches and uses, all practical for me. I do it in FoxPro, an xbase language, use Windows. Could maybe use on a Linux based system using Wine, but have stuck with the PC, partly because I use a few other programs that run on Windows only. Works as well on a laptop as desktop, I have several of each. Even works on a Windows tablet, but the ones I have are cheap and wonky. so mostly stick to the PC, usually laptops. I use phones but aren't much into them beyond a few basic things (not social media).

Beyond that, music, videos and movies and the technologies that support those.

A friend of mine likened my data system to artificial intelligence, but it's not smart, it's just good at finding info, my info, which I keep on my backed up NAS.

Most looking forward to seeing what Sony does with PSVR2.

But currently, arcade games.

I haven't even heard of that game before lol.

It appears to be a bit before my time though. I'm more of a 90's arcade kid.

Yep ... I'm old lol. :D

(sure beats the alternative though!)

This was my all-time favorite quarter-pumping arcade game from back then:

Marble Madness

The version we used to play back in the day was only single-player though.
(I finished it about a dozen times)

I know it's not "proper" since it's emulated etc etc, but I'm loving my AtGames Legends Ultimate so far.
I could still see getting some stand-alone units for things there aren't good substitutes for. Like a three steering wheel Ironman Off-road would be cool.

Yikes, that seems like an expensive unit though...

Yeah those seem to be pretty solid cabinets from what I've seen.

I did have an At Legends Gamer Pro and was super disappointed with the input lag it had. I got rid of it very quickly.

The (lack of) input lag on CRT's simply can't be beat. Same with the graphics/resolution of the old games created for them.

I haven't noticed any yet, but I'm not super into any fighting games where a few frames could make a difference, I'm just a filthy casual :p

I bought my first computer (used) in 1993 from an EE who had put it together from components including a proprietary local bus mobo (and a 486DX Intel CPU, which I replaced with an AMD 486DX2), because the Visa local bus was only on the horizon then, hadn't come out. It was Windows 3.1, preloaded. It was a listing in local newspaper classified section. He was selling it because he and his wife decided that a laptop was all they needed. He made his money in Autocad. You can do more with a desktop than a laptop, but for most stuff I don't see a difference.

Oh it's not just fighting games at all. It was super noticeable in shmups and also games like Metal Slug, NBA Jam, and pretty much everything else I played. I am just super picky about it and basically makes games unplayable to me.

Hm, weird, maybe that's one of the things they've optimized.
I used an 8bitdo Bluetooth controller with my PC, and that had just enough input lag to make Super Mario World unplayable. At first I was thinking to myself "I know I haven't played this in a while, but do I really suck that much now?" and as soon I switched back to my Xbox 360 controller, everything was fine. So I think I'd notice if there was any appreciable input lag. Every time I've died in a game, it felt like it was 100% on me.

Agricultural Tech has me most interested at the moment. We have what 7-8+ BILLION people on this planet with that number expected to steadily increase over the coming years. That is a lot of fucking mouths to feed.
So how will human kind adapt to make it possible? The old ways won't/ arguably aren't already sustainable so we as a planet have to come up with better solutions to a world wide problem.
