This probably belongs in another thread but I am not sure which one.

Anyhow I am building a P4 system and I am looking at this board
ASUS P4S8X Motherboard for Intel P4 478

What do you think I should use. I do not want RDram since I already have DDR ram.
Thanks

What is your budget and what do you look for, something that has a lot of on-board features and/or do you want to overclock??? etc...

Budget is not a problem and no overclock needed. I am going to run a 2.26 at 2.26.
On board does not really matter but I want really nice on board audio if it has it. On board lan would be nice as would AGP 8x but not really a selling point.

This is for a friend and she does not overclock at all.
Thanks

Well a board that has On-boad sound, ethernet, agp8x, serial ata,usb2.0, and even fire wire is the ASUS P4S8X. It gos for $138shipped and has a lof of on board features.

Theres also the Shuttle AS45GTR that has about the same features and gos for $121 shipped at newegg.com

Either of those boards should do what you want. Go to newegg and look at the pitures and what the boards offer. The both have the SiS648 Chipset and can run DDR333 ram all day :)

Almost forgot this one....

The Soyo SY-P4X400 DRAGON Ultra Platinum. It cost a little more but does have digital inputs and outputs for sound and comes with a slot to add front usb ports to a computer. So look up the SY-P4X400 at newegg.com also

Check out the gigabyte 8sg667, which has had the least complaints of any of the sis 648 boards. Tested on this website with 3 sticks of ddr400 running stable.

Hey thanks all for the input. Actually I ordered the Soyo Dragon that was listed. I have the AMD version of that in my own system and this board looks great. Take care and thanks again.
