what state with less taxes and traffic nazis

OS

Lifer
What's a good state with less various taxes (income, property, sales) and less traffic nazis (tickets)?

I live in CA and it blows sometimes.

Your neighbor to the east, Nevada.

No income tax. What we'd normally pay in income tax is instead paid by the idiot tourists who come here for the privelage of throwing their money down the toilet.

Lower ticket fines. We have tickets, its true, but the NHP generally lets the minor offenders go so they can catch, say, the drunk truckers doing 70 through a school zone, in a snowstorm, with no chains. Even if you get a ticket the fine is usually pretty low, at least compared to Cali. Just watch out for the local PD; half of them are the guys who the NHP deliberately kept out because they didn't want their abuse-of-power attitudes in the organization.

Low sales tax. You're used to, what, 14%? The highest we have here is 8%, and that's in Vegas. The northern part of the state ranges from 6% to 7%.

Actually, Kahleeforneeya state sales tax is 7.25%...all the rest is local taxes added on to that.

OP, if you think Kahleeforneeya has bad taxes, you're in for a rude surprise...We only rate 20th in total tax burden...most states will get your money...one way or another, whether it be property taxes, school taxes, sales taxes, vehicle licencing, or just higher costs of living...

Yeah, with most counties and localities averageing in at 14%. 😛

The figures I quoted are including state sales tax.

I'm not sure I follow. Are you talking about state income tax on top of the sales tax? I've paid anywhere from 7.5ish to 8.5ish %. Where are you getting 14%?

Pennsylvania.

-Only state police are allowed to use radar (noone uses laser)
-sales tax 6%
-income tax 3.07%
-property taxes reasonable
-FAR more freedoms than in CA

fewer taxes though.

Not if your in the DFW area. We've got plenty of speeders and not many cops seem to care.

Are you kidding? PA sucks balls. Don't move here. Here's a list of reasons to NOT move to PA:

-All liquor stores are stated-owned
-Road conditions are absolutely TERRIBLE
-No In-N-Out Burger
-Weather blows, like much of the eastern seaboard

-State owned liquor stores? Who cares? Keeps the number of drunks down.
-Road condition ARE bad but we also have some of the most interesting and fun to drive roads in the country.
-In-N-Out, again who cares?
-Weather is excellent. We have all varities from cold to hot, average rainfall and snowfall. Who wants to live in San Diego where you only have one real season (I've lived there)?

State owned liquor stores? How does that work?

Yeah, we have that here in NC.

Simply, there are NO privately owned liqior stores. Only one "chain of stores" called the ABC (stands for Alcohol Beverage Commission).

I'd say the downside to that is somewhat limited selection compared to where I lived otherwise (e.g., NY & FL).
