What standout speaker deals should I keep an eye out for?

Up to150-ish each, what speakers should I be waiting for, to come on sale?
And where do you see those good deals come out besides here, FW, SD,
ecost and dakmart, accessories4less, newegg, and frys?

I would like to get baby towers for versatility and could shell out more for them, but can do bookshelves.

They would be used on either side of my new TV I talked about in that other thread. Thanks S44. Primarily for music and some movies and possibly added to to get a 5.1 system down the line. A subwoofer would likely be the next addition. I do have a largish space of 20 x 20 with high ceiling, but there are the pesky neighbors so volume is not my #1 requirement.

These are some candidates so far. The more expensive ones would need to be found on sale at a cheaper price than shown.

Bookshelf:
$80/ea : Infinity Beta 20 cherry only, or the P162 from Vann's Link

$100/pr : Cambrige Soundworks Classic Series Six Link

$149/ea : Hsu HB1 Mk2 Link

$350/pr : Kef IQ3 Link

Tower:
$106/ea : Bic America Venturi dv64 Link Why so cheap?

$190/ea : Infinity p362 Link Said to have been availabe for 200/pr at one time. Really?

$199/ea : Polk TSi 300 Link

$175 ea Mirage Omni 550 Link

I have had the BIC America Acoustec line of speakers for about 3 years and have been very happy with them. They don't sell the same ones I bought anymore but mine have great quality sound.

I see the Polk R50s are/were on sale at newegg.. LINK..

Cay anyone say if they are on a par with the beta 20s or Bic?

Oh no the Beta 20's sold out.

Check out the Dayton BR-1 DIY bookshelf speaker kit from parts express. It's roughly $150-160, but they sound great. I've heard many say they're comparable to $300-400 bookshelves you could buy elsewhere.

They're relatively easy to put together.

I put my vote on the Mirages, my brother has them hooked to a Marantz SR6001 and he's very happy with the sound quality.

I had a fluance set at my first ones (before I knew what I know now). They were an upgrade from the Logitech z-560 set they replaced, but I still felt the need to upgrade shortly after getting them.

I would not get them again.

The 10" dayton sub I bought with them WAS something I would recommend on a budget. I don't know how those particular speakers perform though.
Note: the basic dayton subs have gone through 1 or 2 revisions since I got mine, and the general consensus seems to be that they are not quite as good as before?

The DIY dayton speakers are well regarded though. Different price category though.
