What speeds are the 939's going to top out at?

Anyone know what speeds the 939's are supposed to eventually top out at? Does the AMD road map go that far? And would it be safe to assume that a 939 motherboard purchased today (say the ASUS A8V) would eventually support all of these speeds?

The fastest the newcastle cores have gone on air (the engeneering samples) has been about 2.5+GHz with both the 3500+ and 3800+. i dont think they will go much higher on current 130nm processes but a 4000+ was on the roadmap i last saw for 2.6GHz

socket 939 is supposed to carry A64 until the end of its life before K9 replaces it in 2006 (?). So I imagine.....5000+ at least. Remember you dont necessarily need a new socket when the manufacturing process changes. When AMD moves to 90nm process, socket 939 should still be compatible.

AMD plans on having the athlon 64s be up and over 3Ghz before the k9 comes out. Maybe not on 130 nanometer process, probably on the 90.

socket 939 will last as long as AMD thinks it can get by with DDR memory because if they change memory standards you also have to change the socket due to the memory controller being on die
