What speed should I be going for best mpg in a 2001 Focus ZX3?

My drive to work consist of a 2 lane for 35 miles that I normally have the cruise set at 65, then it changes to 4 lane for 30 more miles where I keep it set at 75. What should I get it at for best mpg?

about 35-40.

Highest gear and lowest RPM without lugging the engine. If you don't want people honking at you and what not, I'd say you keep it at 60 and stay in the right lane. If you keep constant throttle position, no matter the incline, you will probably get close to 40 mpg.

Going 55 will jump your mileage quite a bit from 65, and a whole lot from 75. The air gets harder and harder to push through the faster you go.

The best will probably be lowest revs in the highest gear.

For an automatic, it's usually in high gear just after TC lockup, I think.
