None of the holidays that aren't on the US Federal list of holidays should be observed IMHO. I also think that presidents day should be removed.

It blows for everyone. If you're single then the whole holiday just throws it in your face. You've already covered why it sucks when you're not. They may well just change it to "flush cash down the toilet day".
