What sound is better to use?

Just guessing here but I'd say SB Live still beats any motherboard with onboard sound(except the Nforce2 boards)

It should be VIA southbridge vs SB Live.
The Realtek ALC650 is just the codec.
SB Live's EMU2K has built-in codec.

I'd like to make some minor correction to your post: The SBLive does not have the codec "built-in" the APU. IIRC, earlier SBLive models paired the EMU10K with a Philips AC97 codec and later ones used a Sigmatel 9708T codec. The SBLive's EMU10K is just an audio processor; audio conversions between digital and analog are done externally through the codec. IMHO, the realtec ALC650 is definitely a good codec for home users.
