I'm building a HTPC for my 6.1 surround system. I have been looking at some sound cards and I'm wondering if there are any out there that encode 6.1. If I'm reading things correct, I have only seen ones that encode 5.1.

I got a HDA Mystique Gold and it only does 5.1, BUT it can do 96KHZ... Soooo Its a nice card however. I think youre out of luck at the moment on 6.1/7.1

I'll second the HDA, this is a really nice card. I like it even better than my soundstorm on my old NF7-S.

Alright, well it looks like I'll have to go with 5.1.

Would you go with the onboard nforce 2, M-Audio Revolution, or the HDA?

Go HDA if you arent $ constrained. If you go NF2 you will be limited on your CPU selection (only Socket A, so no A64 for you), and no PCIe.

Buy a E-MU 0404 or 1212 sound card and digital out the signal to a DD/DTS EX receiver.
