typically jobs that do not ask for or require any experience ... come to think of it, what else could they ask for...?

A lot of them have minimum requirements... like at least a 3.0. My job's req was that, but they never asked to confirm the GPA or have it on the resume. I could've put anything on there...

I've never heard of a job where the employer asked for a GPA. However, I've been working for a few years so I may be to a point where just having a degree is all that matters since I have experience already.

just about all internships and professional entry-level jobs (re: ones where 99% of the applicants will be recent college graduates with no applicable experience).

Just don't think that because your GPA is X that you don't have a chance to get a job. Hopefully you were smart enough to do a ton of extracirricular stuff on top of your schoolwork. I'd much rather be working with someone who had a 3.5 and actually left his/her room as opposed to someone who had a 4.0 and had no friends.

most jobs look at your gpa, and if they are considering highering you, they will look at your transcript to see if you slacked off in one particular area, or took unusually high credit hours (many like this esp. if you have a good gpa and a job through college, it makes you look like you can put in the time to get the job done right), or had to take classes mulitiple times.

Sometime they make sure the person knows how to spell, too.

NOT

only some jobs look at gpa. more places would rather look at work experience rather than gpa.

as far as strict gpa requirements in addition to experience, i've noticed its mostly engineering positions and CIA jobs. looking at the FBI careers, none really list a gpa requirement. they'd rather have experience

Nice.

Yeah, everyone looking at college recruits will look at GPA, and unless your GPA is abysmal, you should be able to woo them with your interview. I work with the college recruiting people at my company, so I know what WE look for. We demand a 3.0 GPA. However, I've been one of the most successful college hires here and I didn't have an overall GPA of over 3.0. Only my major GPA was. However, they never asked me for my overall GPA. Sweet...

Oh, and I ALWAYS interview well, so that's no worry. As long as I get an interview, I KNOW I'm getting a job. Period.

I wouldn't make it as cut and dry as that, but my interviewer actually asked what my hobbies were... I was pretty glad for that one. :)

Basically they want to know if you'll fit in with the team.

Well, in my opinion, any interviewer who just asks what your GPA was without asking what else you did while in school is a lame interviewer. A person who has to work 60 hours a week while going to school and still manages to pull a 3.6 is the guy I would hire if choosing between him/her and another applicant with a 4.0 who did nothing but watch pr0n and go to class.
