what sort of hit will I take

I am getting a new pIV 3.0 ghz processor after my 1.6A burned out. In the diagnosis I got a mobo that supports matched memory pairs.

From my old system I have one 512mb stick of 2700 ram. How important is it to go get two sticks of 3200 ram. What sort of performance increase am I looking at in games and XP? Is it worth it.

on p4 it will proubly hurt it a bit because it likes high clocked ram. if you wen A64 it would be next to no performance hit

It is very much worth the cost of the new memory to get it running in dual channel.
