What sort of CFM do you need on a psu fan?

Hi,
In my system, at the moment, the thing making the most noise, is the PSU.
Now, by using the tryed and tested method of seeing how much air is being moved by putting my hand near it, i have concluded, that my Case fans push far more air than the existing PSU fan, and is quieter. I happen to have a spare case fan at my disposal, identical to the other case fans.
Will the PSU run ok with the new fan?

The PSU/Case fan in question is:
Chieiftec 360W. Dunno the exact model, it came with my Chieftec Scorpio TA0-BLD Full Tower case.
YS-Tech Silent 80mm. 27CFM, 20dBa.

Thanks in advance.

Have you opened the PSU yet. It likely has at least one 80x25 fan and one 92x25 fan on the bottom. They are probably connected by 2 pin connectors. To connect them to the PSU, the best way would be to cut the old fan at the wires and then solder the new fan to the old wires and then cover it in heat shrink tubing or duct tape. You could also use those screw on caps, just make sure you push them out of the way and whatever you do, make sure it will hold. It could be a fire hazard and fatal to your computer if the fan wires came undone. Once you get the old fans out you should be able to look them up online to verify their CFM and make sure your new fan is similar. The new fan should work fine.

I found out the model of the PSU:

Chieftec HPC-360-202
360W Max Load
+5 = 35A
+3.3 = 28A
+12 = 17A
-5v = 0.3A
-12v =0.8A
+5Vsb = 2A

Keep in mind that feeling the air coming out from the psu can be deceiving because there is so much stuff in there restricting air flow.
I think changing fans in psu's is an excellent solution to quiet them down. I changed the fan in my psu. The first fan I tried was very low cfm and I thought the exhaust felt too hot. So I put in a slightly more powerful, but still quiet, fan and now it seems good.

I second switching out the fan.
get a rheobus, get a panaflo l1a (or equivalent), hook it up to the rheobus, and marvel at how quiet your PC is (until you notice how loud another component is)
You'll have to open your psu to do this, thereby voiding any possible warranty. Also watch your fingers. Don't touch any capacitors inside the psu. Finally you'll have to do a little splicing/rewiring.
