What sort of battery would you suggest for LED?

simple question...
what types of batteries would easily be placed in a device to power an LED?

im trying to make something small and portable but that would last a decent amount of time.
any suggestions?

wouldn't alot depend on the LED and how small and how long you want to last, Portable and last a decent amt of time aren't very descriptive. Is it one single LED....portable like keychain portable or like headband portable, How bright does it need to be.....
