In the early 70s, I could listen to Deep Purple, Alice Cooper, Santana, Grand Funk Railroad, The Who, Genesis, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Jethro Tull, Yes, Zappa, King Crimson, Gentle Giant, Uriah Heep, Pink Floyd, etc. without my folks making a fuss unless I played my records way too loud but if I tried to listen to Whole Lotta Love or The Immigrant Song by Led Zeppelin, that would drive my dad off the wall for some reason. He'd come into my room and give me the look. He might even raise his voice. :Q One of my uncles also felt the same way about Whole Lotta Love (which pleased my cousin to no end). :D

So what are the songs of yours that particularly rattle(d) the nerve endings of your parental units? :D

We were going to hell for listening to any of the songs you mentioned. Of course, NONE of those songs were played on the radio at the time because the "Gang of Four" in Minneapolis were "protecting mid-western values from evil outside influences."

I do remember toting around a much loved 'Machine Head' album to a friends house who's parents were gone for the day. Oh, the thrill of listening to "evil" rock n roll. :)

Hey there Dennil!

I will never forget being about 8 years old and singing Lady Marmalade in my mother's car. She was not amused. :D However, that only made me like the song more!!!!

I must have been completely corrupted by music because I have been known to blast "Relax (Don't Do It)" and "You're My Obsession" with my own kids in the car.

I'm rolling thunder, pouring rain

I'm coming on like a hurricane

My lightning's flashing across the sky

You're only young but you're gonna die

I won't take no prisoners won't spare no lives

Nobody's putting up a fight

I got my bell I'm gonna take you to hell

I'm gonna get ya, satan get ya

Hells bells

Hells bells, you got me ringing

Hells bells, my temperature's high

Hells bells

I'll give you black sensations up and down your spine

If you're into evil, you're a friend of mine

See the white light flashing as I split the night

Cos if good's on the left then I'm sticking to the right

I won't take no prisoners won't spare no lives

Nobody's puttin' up a fight

I got my bell I'm gonna take you to hell

I'm gonna get ya satan get ya

Hells bells

Hells bells, you got me ringing

Hells bells, my temperature's high

Hells bells

Hells bells, satan's coming to you

Hells bells, he's ringing them now

Those hells bells, the temperature's high

Hells bells, across the sky

Hells bells, they're taking you down

Hells bells, they're dragging you down

Hells bells, gonna split the night

Hells bells, there's no way to fight

Hells bells

Nothing I listened to really bothered my parents. They are both musicians so they were pretty liberal in that respect.

My mom couldn't stand Deana Carter's "Strawberry Wine" when I was in high school. And then she started singing along to it and she loved/hated it more.

Nothing I listened to ever bothered my parents. Hell, they actually liked most of it. My Dad still wears my old NIN shirt to the gym every once in a while.

Me and my dad have pretty similar tastes in music, but my mom drives me (yes, its the other damn way around) nuts with her horrible, disgusting taste in music (all the annoying songs you can think of and then some, she has in her car).

Personally, im not too picky when it comes to songs. You name a good rock/alternative band and ill probably like them.

I went thru an Iron Maiden phase back in the seventh grade... my parents didn't care much for it.

And everything my sister listened to was unbearable for me :D

My parents listen to the same stuff that I do so I've never really had that problem. My mom keeps up with all of the latest bands and sometimes hears of a band before I do. lol.

LOL! Led Zeppelin pissed off everyone's parents it seems!

My dad hated The Lemon Song. To make matters worse, it was one of the first songs I learned to play...so he got to hear it every day :)

My mom doesn't mind most metal (although she doesn't like Exodus), but my dad is a total metalhead, as am I. No problems here. :D

Not mine! My dad is a huge Zeppelin fan and turned my mom into one when they met. They've even been to a few Robert Plant concerts :p

None of the music I listen to pisses off my dad. I told him a little while ago I was getting into Phish and he was a little skeptical.. then I let him listen and he really liked it. Radiohead really gets on my mom's nerves though, it probably doesn't help that they're my favorite band :p

We Will Rock You and My Sharona are two that really drove my father crazy. My dad owned a restaurant and he threw the radio into a filthy pot washing sink one day when My Sharona was playing.
