Definitely think that we have picked up some type of malware, spyware, or something to that affect on this computer. When ever you do a search it takes to to sites and/or recommendations to sites that have nothing to do with your search. Its no wonder its on the puter....six or seven people have access to it. Anyway, I currently am running Avira "Free" security guard but it doesn't seem to be catching anything. I also have reg cure but it just wants me to update to something else. Would would be the best solution....to get rid of and keep away this "stuff"?

We also get warnings about our computer being infected and its getting ready to steal all of our passwords... no kidding??

thanks for any and all suggestions...

one other thing....when I clear the cookies it seems to go away for a while...

well i just ran malwarebytes and it said it removed one item. looks like that has cleared up the problem. thanks for sharing...will do some checking around here and try to find something that will protect the computer for it seems that the free edition of avira didn't stop it.

thanks so much for the heads up!!

well, i spoke to soon...did a search for "best antivirus" at yahoo and my if i clicked on a link it would take me some other place...geesh....these people who make up these things...what are they thinking???

will probably have to get something else to get rid of this...I wonder if something is embedded in my browser, but you would think that the malware program would get rid of it.????????

granted, i did a quick scan and now am in a full scan mode...will see if it produces something else.

Just reporting in from my previous post....I opened up Avira and found that the system scan was not enabled. Ran a scan and it found several things...some of which it couldn't open. Neverless, everything was quarantined and all is well now. I am writing this because I initially gave Avira a bad wrap for not catching it. Nothing but operator error.

I use regcure and malwarebytes cuz both search differently so you need both
