i guess what im asking is will most win98 stuff play with xp? like office 2000/games/software writing for 98

also i heard that xp would let you play your dos games? true of false
 
Yes, sort of. Many programs, specifically applications like antivirus programs may need updates or a newer version to work with XP

true, but I also heard that most dos games use direct control of the hardware to produce sound and other cool tricks, but winxp doesn't allow that so some games will be pretty useless to play
