I just built a system for a couple of young friends. I wish to test it out to make sure it doesn't crash, etc. What type of software can I run on it for a day or so, that tests all of it's attributes? I have built many before, but this is the first time that I need to test one out.

thanks....

Try Seti or Prime 95. They both are basicly stressing the system to it's limits. Loop them for 24 hours. If they don't crash or overheat or anything, then they can handle pretty much anything.

also run any games that u would use. if a game that you normally play isnt stable, the seti and prime95 tests are useless. its not like u use those programs for personal productivity.

when i got my new system, i just ran UT with bots at the settings i would play UT at and test if the system crashed over a long period of time. well, UT crashed and ive found the cause to be a video card with somewhat weak drivers (i have a hercules prophet 4500). anyways, my system can goto 1.5Ghz (from 1.4Ghz) by changing the bus speed and prime95 would give me no errors so it passed that test. but even at 1.4, UT, the only pc game i play, manages to still crash. so who cares if something like prime95 gives you stability, like i said earlier, its about the games or applications you use, not what you benchmark.
