I have dazzle dvd complete and an analog video camera with video outputs. I have been reading about after you get the movies on your computer that you can use something like the dazzle software to change the video format into one that can be burned and played on a dvd player. The changing into a different format takes a long time, virtually all night from some of what I have read. My question is this. "if some of the newer video cameras burn your movies to a disk immediately that can be played instantly on the dvd player, is there not some software that when I put the movies onto my hard drive through the use of a video capture card it automatically and initially puts it into the correct format to be burnt onto a cd or dvd that will play on my dvd player? I guess what I am asking is can I capture my movies to my harddrive that is in a format that dosnt have to be encoded to play on the dvd player. These are just home movies and I just want to be able to watch them on the tv.

Capture directly as mpeg-2, if you don't plan on editing the videos, this is the format used by DVDs.

Also drop over to www.dvdrhelp.com to read up for more information.

thanks, I appreciate it. Is there a piece of software that does a good job of this? I dont care about editing them.

A friend of mine just found a good piece of software that takes the video straight from the camera and puts it on the dvd all at one time in "real time". Thanks

anything wrong with editing after you've captured as mpeg2? i used Video Studio 7 to capture mpeg2 from my DV cam, added some titles, split into some scenes, edited a little, and then saved it (VS7 reencoded it again as it saved).

now i plan to take those vids into TMPGenc and author some chapters and whatnot, and have it spit out the VOB and directories so I can burn with Nero6.

is this the right thing to do? It's my first DVD.
