This may help you with .img and .sit, still looking for .dmg. It looks to be a mac only file though, well all do.
EDIT: ahh here is something from some forum. ".dmg" files are self-mounting disk images. Simply double-click the downloaded file and it will open via Mac OS X's built-in "Disk Copy" utility. You can then drag whichever files you want out of the mounted disk image, just as if it was a real, physical disk.
