What software/software-feature will reverse a B&W image?

I scanned an image that has white text on a dark background and the OCR software I'm using (Scansoft Omnipage 2.0) doesn't appear to want to OCR the white text. So, I want to reverse the image. The image editing software that came with my Canon Canoscan Lide 35 scanner (MGI Photosuite III) doesn't appear to have the feature). Comments/suggestions? I'm running XP Pro. Thanks!

I managed to install the image editing software that came with my first scanner, a Plustek. It's called Imagein, and it's fairly simple but has a lot of features that work, are intuitive. It has a lot more useful features than the stuff that came with my Canon scanner. I used to have problems installing it a lot of times because the diskettes are furnished with a security feature to let you install it once. Working around that has been a real problem a lot of times, but this time it installed. Nutty stuff. Sure enough, it has a "negative" reversal feature. Problem is, the background was medium tone and the negative has varying shades of gray and the OCR didn't do a good job. Being a good typist, I'm just typing the thing, WTH.

Better yet, I did a search on some of the text and found it all online! Copy/paste saves me the trouble of OCR or typing! ;)
