okay i have my computer ( celeron 366) and my dads ( celeron 466 )
currently i have 56k and he has cable. i also have a pentium 133 i could use as a router/gateway. shortly i will have some coaxial NIC's for these machines. i will then have 10baset from the P133 to the cable modem. what OS and software should i run on the P 133 that is stable and uses fake IP's within the network so i dont have to pay an extra $10 a month?
also, does anyone have experience with coaxial NIC's? and Networking with them??
thanks, LMK

I'd highly recommend using copper. Decent PCI NIC's are cheap, pick up a few. You'll probably want to run one of the small *nix firewalls on the P133. Check out FreeSCO and LRP. There are several others designed for exactly what you want to do, so poke around. Of couse, you could always run a full install of Linux or FreeBSD, but those will take longer to configure (although it's worth it IMO). Good luck.

Use freesco. Simple to set up and acts as a firewall/router/webserver/printserver. I use it for my home network, and its running on a p166 using a cable modem. The best tip is to use PCI nics.
