What software is best for playing DVDs on the PC?

all the dvds i pop in want to install InterActual player.. its a cr.ap player, right? im using wmp10 right now, but it does not seem suited for the job

Media player classic. It is just a simple player. You need to have a legit version of dvd playng software installed for it to work.

IIRC dosent it come with some kind of Cyberlink codec for that? I like PowerDVD on windows, mplayer on *nix.

I've tried a few different ones and I prefer Nero Showtime that comes with the Nero suite.

I agree, after trying a fairly large number of DVD apps, I settled on an old version of PowerDVD that came with some hardware.

windvd. playback at up to 2x with normalized sound good for extras and commentary
