hi, just got my sapphire x1900xtx and it runs pretty hot.. nothing terrible and i'm keeping a huge homefan on it with the case opened while gaming (untill i get my hands on a VF900 that is). But I'm also noticing on many forum threads.. and noticing with my ears too.. that the fan doesn't neccessarily spin up anywhere near 100% even when the card reaches 90 degrees on full load !

i know i've read somewhere it's possible to set the fan speeds and triggers at different temperatures.. but i haven't found any software that supports that with the x1900xtx.. ati tool doesn't seem to support that card yet

what software can handle that? and what are your own settings/suggestions for different speeds at different temperatures?

ATI tool has three methods of controlling the fan speed. I recently installed it on my X850XT PE and it's solved my Oblivion stability issues, it seems default on my card maxed out at 38% fan speed. I have it going up to 50% now with an emergency rate of 100, which it has never hit.

- Click settings in the lower right of the main window.
- Select 'fan control' from the drop down menu at the top.
- Set up your fan speeds.

i can't use ATI Tray Tools since the fan control is in the overclocking section and the only way I get ATT to run is if I disable overclocking while installing.. otherwise I get a 'can't read from BIOS' error

as for ATI Tools.. in the drop down menu.. there isn't any Fan Control.. either it doesn't support my card.. or maybe i don't have the latest beta and that's why it's missing

i have 0.25 beta 10

ok nm... i had just downloaded a version from guru3d and assumed it was the latest but it wasn't.. i got 0.25 beta 14 now and it's got the fan control options and much more too

thanks for the help.. my card shouldn't heat as much now.. gonna be noisier though but that's only till i get the VF900 so i can live with it
